New Orleans
I have only been to New Orleans once for a few days, but I packed a lot into those few days and my brief trip made the southern city one of my favourite places to visit in the U.S. If you're looking to wander around, I don't really think it's worth leaving the French Quarter. The architecture is gorgeous and there's a lot of historical sites, upon a brief Google search I have found a lot of places that I wish I'd known about such as 1850 House, cemetery tours, and The Haunted Museum. We visited in spring, which is supposedly a great time to go because it is warm but not the sweltering heat of the summer.
Where to stay: Soniat House. Absolutely gorgeous hotel boasting rooms that circle a lush garden courtyard. Hot biscuits with jam and cream delivered to your room available for breakfast. To die for. One of my favourite hotels in the world.

Food
- Café Du Monde [Everyone is going to tell you to go here and order beignets. I support this statement]
- Cochon [Absolutely amazing food, we ate here everyday after trying it]
Things To Do
- Plantation Tour [We did this tour which takes you to Laura Plantation, which was a female-led Creole plantation, and Oak Alley Plantation tour, which was a normal plantation upon a beautiful property featuring an oak lined entryway]
- Swamp Tour [I can't remember which tour we did but I imagine they're all pretty much the same. We saw alligators, a wild pig and its piglets, and an eagle feeding its babies all within a few minutes so if you're looking for wildlife, you'll see it]
- New Orleans Voodoo Shop [Touristy but it's pretty well done]
- New Orleans Pharmacy Museum [Walkthrough of America's first licensed pharmacist's house featuring 19th century decor and 19th century "medical tools and "treatments" within an apothecary]
